CORAL GABLES, FLA. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team plays its first road game of the 2022-23 season when it visits Miami (Fla.) on Friday, November 11 at 7:00 p.m.
This will be the Spartans' only ACC opponent of the regular season.
Both teams enter the contest with season opening victories.
The Spartans defeated Johnson & Wales (Charlotte) Monday night inside of Fleming Gym with a score of 93-60. Four Spartans scored double-digit points.

LAST TIME OUT
- With the win over JWU (CLT), this was the fifth-straight season-opener where UNCG won, as it has continued its streak since the 2018-19 season.
- This was also the first win inside of Fleming Gym since December 21, 2019, when the Spartans defeated Northern Kentucky 67-50 and the third-straight win since mainly playing in the Greensboro Coliseum.
- Keondre Kennedy tallied 16 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.
- Donovan Atwell (12 points), Mikeal Brown-Jones (10), and Bas Leyte (10) also had double-digit points.
LAST SEASON
- The Spartans posted a 17-15 overall record, 9-9 in Southern Conference (SoCon) play.
- UNCG opened the season strong with a 57-53 home victory over neighboring non-conference foe North Carolina A&T in front of 6,288 inside the Greensboro Coliseum.
- The Spartans claimed a key victory on the road at Chattanooga on February 17, defeating the 2021-22 SoCon champions, 73-70.
- UNCG boasted a 9-5 record inside the Greensboro Coliseum last season.
- After earning a share of fifth place in the SoCon with VMI, the Spartans earned a spot in the Roman College Basketball Invitational where they fell to Boston University, 71-68, March 20 in Daytona Beach, Florida.
AMONG THE SOCON
UNCG was voted to finish third in the SoCon Preseason Coaches Poll and fourth in the media poll. In the media poll, the Spartans also earned one first-place vote.
SCOUTING MIAMI
- Miami, who finished 26-11 overall and 14-6 in the ACC fell to No. 1 Kansas in its first Elite Eight appearance last season.
- The Hurricanes defeated Lafayette 67-54 in their season opener.
- Nigel Pack and Isaiah Wong each had 16 points, while Norchad Omier logged a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.
- Pack and Wong were among 50 names selected to the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Men's Player of the Year Watch List.
- Wong was also tabbed to the Jerry West Watch List and NABC Player of the Year Watch List.
- The Hurricanes were picked to finish fourth in the ACC, while Wong was voted to the All-ACC Preseason first team.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Spartans and the Hurricanes will meet for the third time in program history.
- Miami has won the two meetings, 78-58 (February 15, 2011) in Greensboro, N.C. and 99-89 (January 2, 2012) in Coral Gables, Florida.
