UNCG Wins Advance Golf Partners Tournament

PALM CITY, Fla. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team saved its best for last to win the Advance Golf Partners Tournament.

The Spartans shot a final round of 290 to finish ahead of 20 schools. UNCG ended the three-day event six-over, three strokes better than Creighton (+9). It was a terrific way for the Spartans to begin the spring portion of their schedule.

Fueled by a trio of golfers who finished at even-par, the Spartans overcame a solid individual performance by Creighton's Jackson Thompson.

Quotable
UNCG head coach Terrance Stewart on the victory.
"It was a complete team win this week. I am very proud of the entire team working so hard to improve. The results will come over time."

Symon Balbin on how the Spartans were able to win the tournament.
"It felt good to finally get it done with these guys. Over the past year, we've slowly matured and gotten better at handling the moment and pulling through. We're still a young team, and it's nice to know that. It was a battle this week with the winds being 15-25 miles per hour with a bit of rain. It's tough to keep your composure out there in those conditions, and we held up pretty well and got the job done. The ultimate difference was the taste we got at NC State's tournament in the fall. We didn't seal the deal then, but it made us hungrier than ever and pushed us to win this week."
