GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team took two wins to extend its home streak to seven on Saturday.
The Spartans defeated Towson 4-1 and followed that with a 10-1 five-inning victory over Bucknell. This was their third run-ruled win of the season.

"Today was a lot of fun! We did what needed to be done and got two wins. I have been feeling really confident in my swing and seeing the ball and that showed up today in the games for the team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Reese Byrd struck out her first batter of the game, retiring Towson with the bases loaded in the top of the second.
- In the bottom of the frame, Towson also retired the side with its own two-out bases-loaded strikeout.
- The Tigers' Madyson Peters homered down the left field line on a full count in the top of the fourth for a 1-0 lead.
- With two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Blayke Batten drove in Maycin Brown on a triple to center field to tie the game at one.
- The Spartans extended the lead to 3-1 off one hit and two errors in the bottom of the fifth.
- UNCG put up one more run in the bottom of the sixth for a 4-1 advantage. With Batten's second triple of the day, Shipley drove her on a ground out to first.
NOTES
- Byrd recorded a season-best six strikeouts in her third win of the season.
- Batten tallied the first two triples of her career.
- She was the one of two Spartans that tallied multiple hits, swinging 3-for-4.
- Jordan Gontram went 2-for-4 at the plate.
- UNCG leads the series 12-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- With two outs in the bottom of the first, Jessie Shipley tagged a ball over the left field wall for a two-run home run and a 2-0 lead.
- Bucknell scored its lone run of the game in the top of the third on a RBI single from Chase Knapp.
- The Spartans broke open the game with eight runs on eight hits and two errors in the bottom of the fourth.
- UNCG's eight hits included a three-run blast from Batten.
NOTES
- Shipley sent out her second home run of the season.
- Batten tallied her fifth home run of the season, the seventh of her career.
- Batten recorded three RBI, while Brown, Shipley, and Gontram tallied two each.
- This was the fifth time this season the Spartans tallied 10 hits in a game.
- Scott matched her season best of seven strikeouts for the third time.
- UNCG extends its streak against Bucknell 4-0.
