GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team shot lights out during the first round of the Dorado Beach Collegiate Sunday afternoon.
Nick Lyerly,
Symon Balbin, and
Randall Hudson all shot below 70 to lead the Spartans. They are in second place after the first round, one stroke behind Ball State. UNCG shot a 275, which was an astonishing 13-under par.
The Spartan trio are also near the top of the individual leader board. Lyerly is tied for second, Balbin is tied for fourth, and Hudson is tied for 10th overall.

How It Happened
- Lyerly led the way with a six-under 66.
- The centerpiece of Lyerly's performance were four straight birdies on holes eight through 11.
- Lyerly had seven birdies overall. He shot a four-under 32 on the back nine.
- Balbin shot a 67 (-5).
- Four of Balbin's six birdies were on the back nine where he finished with a four-under 32.
- Hudson had six birdies that helped him shoot a three-under 69.
- Noah Connor and Jack Marcotte each finished with a one-over 73.
- Connor and Marcotte combined for eight birdies.
- Competing as an individual, Tommy Lamb shot an even-par 72.
- Lamb was two-under on the front nine.
- Thirty of the 82 tournament participants had rounds under par.
