Spartans Second-Half Efforts Fall to Paladins in Saturday Matchup

GREENSBORO, N.C.- The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's basketball team fell to the Furman Paladins, 54-44, on Saturday night inside of Fleming Gym.

  
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Spartans opened the scoring with a layup from Isys Grady.
  • Aja Boyd and Nitzan Amar grew the Spartan's lead to five with a layup and a 3-pointer.
  • UNCG's defense held the Paladins scoreless for three minutes towards the end of the first period.
  • Grady opened the second period with a jumper to cut the deficit.
  • Khalis Cain helped the Spartan's score with a hook shot.
  • CeCe Crudup came in with a 3-pointer with four minutes remaining in the second period to close the gap to five.
  • The Paladins grew the lead to 15 in the third quarter, the largest of the game.
  • Crudup's second 3-pointer put a spark in the Spartan spirit.
  • Pernilla Sorensen made back-to-back 3-pointers to cut the Paladins deficit to seven.
  • Amar joined Sorensen and Crudup beyond the arc to start the final 10 minutes.
  • The Blue and Gold held the Paladins scoreless for almost half of the fourth quarter.
  • Jordan Releford and Boyd scored the final five points for UNCG.
  •  Furman would win the game 54-44.

  • Cain carried the Spartans in rebounds totaling 11.
  • Amar and Grady led the Spartans in assists with three.
