GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) and The Citadel men's tennis teams will try for a second time to play a Southern Conference match. Last week's scheduled contest in Charleston was rained out.
The Spartans and Bulldogs will meet in the middle to play. This match will take place at Wofford College in Spartanburg, and it will begin at 2 p.m.
A Look At UNCG
- UNCG won its only match this season against a Southern Conference opponent.
- The Spartans are 1-0 in SoCon competition.
- The Spartans dropped a tough 4-3 decision to the College of Charleston this past Sunday.
- Alexander Zuckerman had a great afternoon for the Spartans.
- He was a 6-4 winner with Roger Rogowski at No. 1 doubles.
- Later in the match, Zuckerman was a winner at No. 2 singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
- For Zuckerman and Rogowski it was their team-leading fourth victory at No. 1 doubles.
- It was Zuckerman's third singles triumph of the season.
- Hugh Knapp won his second consecutive match at No. 3 singles in a three-set thriller.
- Nico Grewe and Hampus Johansson are 2-0 as a doubles pair this season.
A Look At The Citadel
- The Bulldogs are 6-18 overall.
- All six of The Citadel's victories have been against non-Division I opponents.
- The Citadel beat Division III Methodist in a pair of matches Tuesday by 6-1 and 7-0 scores.
- Hayden Shoemaker leads the Bulldogs with 15 victories at No. 1 singles.
- Zvonko Bencedic has 14 singles victories at No. 2.
- In the 7-0 win over Methodist, all six singles matches were decided in straight sets, with eight of the sets being settled by 6-0 counts.
- In its last outing against a Division I opponent, The Citadel dropped a pair of matches Monday afternoon against James Madison, 6-1, and North Carolina A&T, 5-2.
- Bencedic and Sebastian Kamieniecki won both of their doubles matches against JMU and North Carolina A&T.
- Bencedic was also a winner in singles competition against James Madison.
- Against North Carolina A&T, Lucas Robins and Kamieniecki were singles winners.
