UNCG Ready To Host Elon In Home Finale

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team plays its final home match of the season against Elon on Thursday, April 14. The non-conference match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
 
Spartan seniors Roger Rogowski, Cooper Wyett, Nico Grewe, and Hugh Knapp will play their final home matches of their sterling careers.
 
A Look At UNCG
  • The Spartans are 6-13 overall.
  • UNCG dropped a 5-2 decision to Furman this past Sunday.
  • Nico Grewe and Roger Rogowski were winners during their singles matches and as a doubles team.
  • Grewe was named the SoCon Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
  • Grewe went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 1-1 at No. 1 doubles.
  • Hugh Knapp leads UNCG with 12 singles victories.
  • Grewe has won 11 matches at No. 1 singles.
  • Grewe and Rogowski have won two consecutive singles' matches.
  • Rogowski has won eight singles contests, which is third on the team.
  • The doubles tandem of Grewe and Rogowski are 4-1 overall at the No. 1 slot.
  • Hugh Knapp and Cooper Wyett are 6-5 overall at No. 2 doubles.
 
A Look At Elon
  • Elon enters this contest with an 11-8 overall record after falling to VCU, 7-0, in its most recent outing.
  • Elon hosted Radford on Wednesday.
  • Daniel Martin is leading the way for Elon in singles play, as the sophomore has a 13-4 overall record, including a 3-1 tally in No. 2 singles and a 9-1 mark in the No. 3 slot.
  • Martin has also combined with Chung-Han Tsai to pick up the most doubles wins on the team with 11.
  • Nicholas Campbell and Kyle Frankel are tied for second on the team in singles victories with nine apiece.
  • Frankel is 9-10 overall and has won three of his last five outings.
    - Camilo Ponce is third in singles wins, racking up eight so far this season. Ponce has won four of his last five matches and sits at 8-7 overall with a 6-6 mark in the No. 4 position.
  • The combination of Nicholas Campbell and Nicholas Condos has started the year off strong for Elon, posting a 7-3 mark as a duo. The tandem is 6-2 in the No. 3 doubles slot after earning wins against Duke, Liberty, Campbell, Gardner-Webb, Furman and VCU.
  • Elon returned three All-CAA honorees this season in Kyle Frankel (1st Team; 2nd Team Doubles), Camilo Ponce (2nd Team; 2nd Team Doubles) and Chung-Han Tsai (2nd Team Doubles).
