RELEASE FROM THE SOUTHERN CONFERENCE

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The three-day Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship was halted due to darkness Sunday in the second round.
 
The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team was tied for sixth following the first round with a team total of 304. The Spartans are currently seventh.
 
Due to impending weather tomorrow, Monday, April 18, everyone began the second round on Sunday. Three of the five Spartans completed round two, while two have three holes each to finish.

How It Happened: Round One

• Graduate Tara Bettle was tied for seventh, leading the Spartans shooting one-over 73.
• After shooting two-over on the front nine, Bettle made three birdies and shot one-under on the back nine for a score of 73 (+1).
• Senior Hailey Joy was tied for 13^th after round one with her score of 75 (+3).
• Joy made a birdie on the front and back nine.
• Freshman Ava Romfo made a birdie on hole 15 and was tied for 20^th shooting 76 (+4).
• Freshman Grace Holcomb and sophomore Victoria Cook placed 36^th and tied for 37^th, respectively.
• Holcomb made two birdies on the back nine shooting 80 (+8).
• Cook made two birdies and shot 81 (+9).

 How It Happened: Round Two

• Bettle and Joy have three holes remaining.
• Holcomb moved up 15 spots tying for 21^st with her round of 73 (+1)
• She made five birdies during round two, for a total of seven in the tournament.
• Cook is currently tied for 32^nd after shooting 78 (+6).
• Romfo rounded out the Spartan performances and is tied for 27^th after a second-round score of 80 (+8).

The SoCon Championship will continue tomorrow, Monday, April 18. Two Spartans have three holes left for round two, while three will begin round three on Tuesday, April 19. Due to impending weather scheduled for Monday, round three will begin on Tuesday.
