Gallery: (4-28-2022) Spiro Awards 2022 
GREENSBORO, N.C. – After leading their programs to Southern Conference regular season championships, Kayla White of the volleyball team and Theo Collomb of the men's soccer team were named the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) Female and Male Players of the Year, respectively, during the annual Spiro Awards Wednesday night.
The UNCG athletics department celebrated a memorable 2021-22 season by recognizing several outstanding teams and standout individuals during the festive evening inside of the UNCG Theatre. In addition to the individual accolades that were presented, each of UNCG's athletic programs, including cheer and dance teams honored their senior student-athletes.
A couple of additional highlights of the event included former UNCG athletics director Nelson E. Bobb being presented with the Legacy Award and women's golf student-athlete Hailey Joy receiving the inaugural Minerva Wisdom Appreciation Award.
The following teams won awards: women's soccer (UNITY Award), baseball (Spartan Cup Award), men's tennis (Highest Team GPA), and softball (Team of the Year).

Male Player of the Year
Theo Collomb, Men's Soccer
	- SoCon Player of the Year.
- First Team All-Region selection by the United Soccer Coaches.
- Named to the United Soccer Coaches 2021 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer All-America Second Team, College Soccer News All-America Second Team and TopDrawerSoccer Best XI Third Team.
- Drafted by the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the MLS Super Draft.
Female Player of the Year
Kayla White, Volleyball
	- SoCon Player of the Year.
- CoSIDA Academic All-America Division I volleyball third team.
- AVCA All-American Honorable Mention and AVCA Southeast All-Region Honorable Mention.
- SoCon Offensive Player of the Week four times this season and the Offensive Player of the Month twice.
Male Rookie of the Year
J.C. Ngando, Men's Soccer
	- SoCon Freshman of The Year.
- United Soccer Coaches All-Region Third Team
- College Soccer News All-Freshman Second Team.
- SoCon Player of the Week and named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week on Oct. 26.
Female Rookie of the Year
Grace Loftin, Softball
	- SoCon Player of the Week (March 21)
- D1 Softball Freshman of the Week (March 22, 2022)
- Leads SoCon with a .712 slugging percentage.
- Named to the Schmitt Sports /NFCA DI National Freshman of the Year List.
Comeback Player of the Year
Aja Boyd, Women's Basketball
	- Southern Conference's Ann Lashley Inspiration Award winner.
- Second Team All-SoCon.
- UNCG Martin Luther King, Jr. Service Award recipient.
- Was third in the SoCon in offensive rebounds per game (2.9).
Female Spartan of the Year
Tara Bettle, Women's Golf
	- Selected to compete at the NCAA Regional in Franklin, Tennessee.
- First Team All-SoCon selection.
- Averaged 72.97 in 30 rounds played, which was fourth in the SoCon. 
- Shot her career-low and set a new course record at the Evie Odom Invitational shooting 63 during the final round.
Male Spartan of the Year
Greg Hardison, Baseball
	- Recorded career 200th hit against Wofford on April 8.
- Seventh in program history in doubles (46).
- All-SoCon Media second team.
- SoCon Academic Honor Roll.
