GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer head coach Chris Rich has announced Marco Milanese, Ethan Conley, and Niclas Wild as the captains for the 2022-23 season.

"UNCG Soccer is in great hands with Ethan, Marco, and Niclas as team captains next season!" stated head coach Chris Rich. "All three represent this program at the highest level, both on and off the field. They are the definition of leading by example. They are impact players, exceptional students, and overall great human beings. I am excited to see them lead a group of talented student-athletes this season!"

Milanese started and played in 17 games last season scoring two goals with one assist for five points. He had the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Coastal Carolina on September 28. Prior to UNCG, Milanese played at the University of Akron playing in 45 games, including six during the 2020-21 season. As a Zip, Milanese scored three goals with two assists during his time.

"Being named one of the captains of this amazing team after just one year is truly an honor," mentioned Milanese. "But I know that this role comes with responsibilities and expectations. I can't wait for next season! #LetsgoG!"

This year, Conley started in 14 games, playing in 17, totaling 1063 minutes on the pitch. Including the 2020-21 season, Conley has played in 50 games in the Blue & Gold registering four assists.

"I am thrilled and privileged to serve the team alongside Marco and Niclas as one of the captains for next year," said Conley. "Servant leadership is a pillar of a great team, and I am very happy to continue to have that opportunity in this role. My goal is to serve others and reflect Jesus' love in everything I do."

Wild played in 17 of the Spartans' 18 games last season between the posts. He totaled 36 saves with a .720 save percentage. He gave up 14 goals for a 0.798 goals-against average. He posted nine shutouts this season. The goalkeeper also played in 11 games during the 2020-21 season, giving up 11 goals for a 0.956 goal against average and a 0.725 save percentage. Wild recorded four shutouts and one combined shutout during his first season. His career record in the net for the Blue & Gold is 19-6-3.

"First of all, I'm super proud to be a captain of such an amazing program for the second year," stated Wild. "Now, it's time to go back to work and win some more trophies!"

These three assisted the Spartans in winning the 2021 Southern Conference regular season championship and having its first double-digit win season since 2017. UNCG had finished with a 13-4-1 overall mark and a 5-1 SoCon record. In addition, the Spartans were nationally-ranked for most of the season, and they ended the 2021 season as the national leader in corner kicks per game (8.00), goal differential (38), points per game (8.39), and scoring offense (2.89).
