GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team earns its highest ranking this year in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll this week, climbing to No. 18.
The Spartans also remained at No. 6 in the South Regional poll this week. UNCG is sitting between No. 5 Clemson University (6-1-0) and the University of Louisville (3-2-1).
Yesterday, UNCG received a No. 12 ranking in the TopDrawerSoccer poll and a No. 15 mark in the College Soccer News poll.
Among the nation, the Spartans are third in goal differential (16), fourth in scoring offense (3.00), total goals 21), and total points (61), seventh in total assists (19), eighth in points per game (8.71), 11
th in won-lost-tied percentage (0.857), 14
th in shots on goal per game (7.57), 16th in assists per game (2.71)), 19
th in corner kicks per game (7.14), and 23
rd in shots per game (16.29).
Most recently, UNCG earned its second-straight shutout and third clean sheet of the season with a 2-0 victory over Winthrop. Prior to that win, the Spartans tied 0-0 against SMU in Dallas, Texas.
UNCG is 5-0-2, which is the best start in program history since the 2004 season, when the Spartans began the slate 4-0-1. This is the first time under fourth-year Head Coach Rich that UNCG is starting the season undefeated.
