GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team resumes Southern Conference (SoCon) play tomorrow, Friday, September 30 with reigning 2021 Conference Regular Season and Tournament Champions Samford.
 
UNCG follows the game up with Chattanooga on Sunday, October 2.
 
The Spartans enter the weekend 5-4-1 overall and 1-0 in SoCon play.
 
UNCG SOCCER STADIUM INFORMATION
Gate entry: 
Fans should enter at the main gate into the soccer stadium located off of West Drive below the tennis courts. Gates are open to fans one hour prior to the start of the match.
 
Parking:
Parking is free in the Walker Deck one hour prior to the start of the match. Fans parking in the Walker Deck should follow West Drive down to the main entrance of the soccer stadium. 
 
Food and Beverages:
Concessions will not be open for Sunday's game. Due to concessions being closed, fans are permitted to bring outside food and non-alcoholic beverages into the soccer stadium for Sunday's game.
 
SOCON WEEKLY HONORS
  • Abby Buchholz was named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week after assisting the team in recording back-to-back shutouts.
  • The senior goalkeeper earned the first recognition for the Spartans this season.
SPARTANS' LAST TIME OUT
  • UNCG shut out East Carolina University, who was receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches national poll.
  • Gabi Santora and Ava Kiss each scored a goal in the 2-0 victory.
  • Senior goalkeeper Abby Buchholz had three saves in her third shutout of the season

  • Senior Maddy Gilhool leads the Spartans with five goals and 11 points.

  • Samford was voted as the preseason favorite to win the 2022 SoCon women's soccer title, as it is the defending regular season and tournament champion.
  • Kyla Reynolds, Taylor Yount, Mary Raymond, and Kylie Gazza were selected for the Preseason All-Conference Team.
  • The Bulldogs are 0-1-1 in the SoCon, most recently tying with Mercer, 2-2.
  • Samford is 4-3-4 overall with four shutouts and a 0-0 tie against then-No. 12 Ole Miss.
  • Kylie Gazza leads the team with three goals and one assist, good for seven points.
  • Whitaker Buchanan and Ella Simpson have two goals a piece.
