Men’s Basketball Takes on Samford for Fan Appreciation Game Saturday

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team and the Samford Bulldogs will face off on Saturday, January 7 with a start time of 4:00 p.m. in the Greensboro Coliseum.
 
Both teams are 3-0 in conference play and will battle it out to be the final SoCon team undefeated in league play. This is the first time since the 2018-19 season that the Spartans started SoCon play 3-0.
 
This game is the Spartans' Fan Appreciation Game where fans that are present at the game can enter to win prizes. The first 500 fans will also receive a free UNCG flag!
 
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+, as well as Nexstar affiliate stations including WMYT/My 12 (Charlotte), WWCW/The CW Virginia (Lynchburg/Roanoke), and WYCW/The CW62 (Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville) for the Ingles SoCon Game of the Week.

  • UNCG picked up its sixth win in the last eight games with a 73-61 win over Chattanooga at home on Wednesday.

  • The Spartans then come home for a four-game homestand, hosting The Citadel (Jan. 19), Mercer (Jan. 21), VMI (Jan. 25), and Furman (Jan. 29).

SERIES HISTORY
  • UNCG is 20-12 all-time against Samford.
  • The Spartans split the series last season against the Bulldogs.
  • UNCG won on Jan. 22, 61-58, and then Samford was victories on Feb. 19, 55-49.
  • The Bulldogs also took the SoCon Tournament Quarterfinal game on March 5, 66-64.
  • Prior to the two losses last year, UNCG had won 11-straight games against Samford, dating back to February 4, 2017.
