Men’s Soccer Four-Match Homestand Starts with Wofford Saturday

GREENSBORO, N.C. –  The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team returns home on Saturday, October 14 to begin a four-match homestand with The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Wofford at the UNCG Soccer Stadium with a start time of 7:00 p.m.  

The Spartans enter the contest 1-9-3 overall and 0-2-0 in the SoCon, while the Terriers are 4-3-5 overall and 1-0-1 in the Conference.

SPARTAN QUICK HITTERS
  • Ethan Conley and Nabil Homssa lead the team with four points each. Conley has scored two goals, while Homssa has tallied one goal and two assists.
  • Colton Sessoms is third on the team with three points (1 G, 1 A).
  • Eight different Spartans have tallied at least one point this season, with six different players scoring at least one goal.
  • UNCG was voted to finish first in the SoCon Preseason Coaches Poll, while Emmanuel Hagan, Ethan Conley, and Basile Marc earned Preseason All-Conference honors. All three were named to SoCon All-Conference teams.
  • Hagan, Conley, and Marc were named captains this season.
SCOUTING WOFFORD
  • Last season, the Terriers went 6-9-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the conference.
  • Wofford was picked to finish fifth in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll.
  • Nikolai Roejel was voted to the Preseason All-SoCon Team.
  • Wofford is coming off a 2-0 loss to No. 6 Wake Forest. Prior to that match, the Terriers were on a nine-game unbeaten streak, including five draws and four wins.
  • Rojel has 16 points to lead the team and conference, scoring eight goals in the 12 games played. His eight goals lead the SoCon.
  • Jakob Andersson is second with seven points, including one goal and five assists. He is leading the conference in assists.
  • Cameron Victor has started and appeared in net for all 12 games, giving up 11 goals for 0.92 goals against average.
The Spartans continue its homestand next Saturday, October 21, hosting Mercer at 7:00 p.m. at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. This game will be part of UNCG Homecoming Weekend.
