GREENSBORO, N.C.– The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team returned to Greensboro after 21 days away and defeated William Peace University 88-56 at Fleming Gym on Friday night.
This was the second meeting between the two teams. UNCG won by its largest margin of victory this season. This was the Spartans' fifth-straight win of the season.
All 12 Spartans that played tonight registered a basket, with senior
Mikeal Brown-Jones leading the game with 22 points and seven rebounds.
Kobe Langley dished out a game-high 10 assists, tying his career-high.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UNCG opened the scoring with a 9-2 run, including the Spartans' first three-pointer of the game from
Keyshaun Langley and a dunk from
Mikeal Brown-Jones. The Pacers stayed within single digits until a second-chance three-pointer from
Mason So at 7:14 putting the Spartans up 10, 22-12. UNCG maintained a double-figure advantage for the rest of the half. The Spartans climbed to a 16-point lead twice during the half. The first was on So's second three-pointer of the game with 56-seconds remaining, 34-18, and then on
Akrum Ahemed's layup with 36-seconds left on the clock, 36-20. William Peace went into the locker room with a 14-point deficit following back-to-back free throws made by Timothy Pettiford, 36-22.
UNCG continued to expand its lead in the second half beginning with a 12-4 run that stretched the lead to 22, 48-26. The Spartans' offense continued to show off utilizing their range from behind the arc, shooting 54.5-percent (6-for-11). Late in the second half,
Joryam Saizonou's layup at 5:54 put UNCG up 34 for its largest lead in a game this year. The Spartans and Pacers traded baskets for the next three minutes and 13 seconds, before freshman
Keyon Webb crashed the lane and put UNCG back up 34, 84-50. In the final minutes, William Peace made two three pointers while
Domas Kauzonas made his first dunk at 1:16 and secured the win with a final layup with five seconds left for an 88-56 victory.

- Webb scored his first-career basket and pulled down his first-career rebound.
- Kauzonas registered a season-best six points, including his first dunk of the season.
