GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team hits the road for the first time since November 26, as the Spartans will battle Sun Belt foe Marshall on Saturday, December 16 with a start time of 7:00 p.m. at the Cam Henderson Center.

UNCG is off to its best start in program history with its 8-1 record. 
 
UNCG is on a seven-game win streak which began with the program's first ranked win against No. 14 Arkansas, 78-72 in Fayetteville and continued with the 2023 Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship title. The Spartans came back from The Bahamas and defeated William Peace, 88-56, Eastern Kentucky, 87-85 in overtime, and Elon, 82-73.
 
This is the longest win streak for the Spartans since the 2020-21 season when UNCG won seven straight and punched a ticket to the 2021 NCAA Tournament. UNCG's 4-0 record at home matches the start from the 2021-22 season.
 
UNCG is 8-1 overall this season, while Marshall is 3-7. The Spartans are currently ranked No. 4 in the latest collegeinsider.com Men's Mid Major Top 25® and sixth in the Field of 68 Cinderella Top 25 poll.

This will be just the third matchup between the two teams with the series tied, 1-1. UNCG won the most recent game against the Thundering Herd on December 13, 2022, 75-67 at the Greensboro Coliseum. Marshall took the first win on November 3, 2006, 82-80.  
 
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS

• UNCG's 82-73 victory over Elon on Sunday gave the 2023-24 team the best start in program history.
• Mikeal Brown-Jones scored a game-high 24 points and 11 rebounds for his second-career double-double.
• Brown-Jones also chipped in a career-best four blocks.
• Two other Spartans tallied double-figures, including Donovan Atwell with 19 and Joryam Saizonou with 12.
• This was the seventh game this season where three or more Spartans scored double digits.

• Currently, the Spartans are ranked nationally in the top 50 in five categories: 14^th in turnovers per game (9.4), 20^th in winning percentage (88.9), 21^st in three-point percentage (39.2), 24^th in three pointers per game (9.9), and 33^rd in assist/turnover ratio (1.51).
• UNCG is outscoring its opponents 80.1-70.7 and is averaging 6.4 steals per game compared to its foes who are averaging 4.9 per game.
• They are leading the Conference in assist/turnover ratio, field goal percentage defense, turnovers per game, and winning percentage.
• Kobe is nationally ranked 15^th in assists per game (6.4), 23^rd in assists (58), 24^th in assist/turnover ratio (3.41), and 40^th in steals per game (2.22).  
• Kobe leads the SoCon in assists per game, steals, and steals per game.
• Brown-Jones is nationally ranked 37^th in points per game (19.4), 40^th in free throw attempts (64), and 47^th in free throws (49).
• Donovan Atwell is nationally ranked 15^th in three pointers per game (3.44), 27^th in total three-point field goals made (31), and 42^nd in three point percentage (43.1).  
• Keyshaun was named SoCon Player of the Week (Nov. 20), and Brown-Jones earned the honor on November 27.
• UNCG earned a preseason CollegeInsider.com ranking of 25^th and is currently fourth in week five.
• The Spartans were voted to finish second in the SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll and fourth in the Media Poll. They received one first-place vote in the Coaches' Poll.
• Keyshaun and Brown-Jones were selected to the SoCon Preseason All-SoCon team.
• The Spartans return eight from last year's roster, while adding three transfers and three freshmen.

• Marshall has lost the last five out of six games, defeating the Ohio Bobcats 74-69 on the road.
• Four from Marshall are averaging double figures, with Obinna Anochili-Killen leading the way with 16.1 points per game.
• Kevon Voyles is second on the team averaging 14.8 points per game, while Kamdyn Curfman and Nate Martin are averaging 12.1 and 11.3 points per game, respectively.
• Martin is pacing the Thundering Herd with 9.5 rebounds per game.
• In the nation, Martin is 10^th in double-doubles (5), 24^th in rebounds per game (9.5), 29^th in rebounds (95), and 38^th in defensive rebounds per game (6.50).
• Curfman is nationally ranked 21^st in three-point attempts (84), 52^nd in total three-pointers made (28), and 55^th in three pointers per game (2.80).
• Nationally, Marshall is ranked 25^th in blocks per game (5.3) and 50^th in rebounds per game (40.10).
• Opponents are outscoring Marshall 80.8 points per game to 75.1 points per game.
• Curfman and Anochili-Killen were each named to the 2023-24 Preseason All-Sun Belt second team, while Marshall was voted to finish seventh in the Conference.
