Men’s Basketball Wire to Wire Over Dragons

GREENSBORO, N.C.– The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team outmatched Virginia University of Lynchburg on Thursday afternoon in Fleming Gym, 135-57. The Spartans maintained the lead for the whole contest.
 
According to the record book, the Spartans' 135 points is now the most points scored in UNCG history. This broke the previous record of 122 points against Piedmont Bible on December 12, 1983.
 
The Spartans held a 42-point lead, 66-24, at halftime which also broke the largest margin at halftime in UNCG history. The previous margin was 35, also against Piedmont Bible on December 2, 1985.
 
The 78-point margin of victory matches the previous record, which was a 111-33 victory over Greensboro College on November 27, 2018.
 
UNCG's 55 field goals made are the most in program history. Previously the record was 50 against Piedmont Bible on December 12, 1983. It also broke the UNCG Division I record which was 42 against Greensboro College on November 27, 2018.
 
The Spartans' 68 rebounds are also a new program record overall and in UNCG's Division I history. The previous record for both was 63 which was against NC A&T on November 22, 2021.
 
UNCG handed out 32 assists in the game against the Dragons, which matches the school record from December 18, 2022 against Warren Wilson.

FROM THE STATBOOK
  • Eight Spartans scored double figures.
  • Donovan Atwell paced the Spartans with 19 points and five rebounds. This was the sixth game this season with double-digit points.
  • Domas Kauzonas was impressive on the court with a career-best 18 points and nine rebounds, which was a game-high.
  • Jalen Breath scored a career-high 17 points and matched his career-high of eight rebounds.
  • Keyshaun Langley had his eighth game this season with double figures, tallying 17 points.
  • Mason So registered a career-high 12 points and four assists.
  • Joryam Saizonou matched his season-best of 12 points and handed out a career-high six assists.
  • Akrum Ahemed scored a season-high 11 points, tallied a career-high nine rebounds, and dished out a career-best five assists.
  • Tim Ceaser reached double-figures for the first time this season, scoring 10 for a season high. His nine rebounds were a game-high, matching Ahemed's total.
  • Keyon Webb scored a career-high five points, which included his first-collegiate three pointer.
  • Kobe Langley collected a season-best seven rebounds, had four assists, and three steals.
  • Muon Reath matched his season-best of eight points.

The Spartans hit the road for one last non-conference game, as they will battle No. 19 Texas on Friday, December 29 at 8:00 p.m. EST, 7:00 p.m. CST on the Longhorn Network in the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. This will be the second ranked opponent for UNCG this season.
