PALM CITY, Fla. - The UNC Greensboro's (UNCG) Nick Lyerly fired a team season-low eight-under-par (64) to leap into sole possession of second place individually while the Spartans also jumped to the top spot as a team through the second round of UNCG's Advance Golf Partners Collegiate at Hammond Creek Golf Club.
 
Lyerly scored on all par five holes including an eagle on the 564-yard 15th hole to finish the day five-under-par on par fives. The graduate student carded seven birdies and one eagle, finishing the back nine with a five-under-par (31) scorecard. His birdie on the par five, 577-yard ninth hole started a stretch of three birdies in four holes, capped by a birdie on the par three, 218-yard 12th hole. Lyerly stands one shot off the individual lead at nine-under-par (135) and holds a six-stroke cushion from third place.
 
Currently playing as the top individual, Noah Connor entered the top ten leaderboard with a two-under-par (70) scorecard, bringing his two-round total to even par. The senior posted an unblemished front nine scorecard with two birdies on the sixth and ninth holes to close out his day. Starting his day on the tenth tee, Connor claimed back-to-back birdies on the par four, 393-yard 16th hole and the par five, 555-yard 17th. Connor currently stands in a tie for eighth place.
 
With four birdies on his second-round scorecard, Tommy Lamb posted a one-under-par (71) to drop his two-round total to six-over-par (150), climbing 40 spots after round one. The junior earned one of UNCG's three birdies on the 17th hole, one of two for Lamb on par five holes. Lamb carded a one-under-par (35) front nine scorecard on his way to UNCG's third under-par round of the day.
 
Randall Hudson (one-over-par, 73) and Symon Balbin (two-over-par, 74) each stand in a tie for 19th overall with a two-round total of three-over-par (147).
 
The Spartans hold a three-shot lead over second place Butler and Drexel with a two-round total of one-over-par (577). UNCG's second round 282 (six-under-par) stands as the second-round low as the Spartans also hold a 12-shot lead over DePaul in fourth place.
