GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team saw sophomore transfer
Jorde Chartrand strike out a career best 10 batters in a 3-1 loss to in-state foe Campbell on Wednesday at the UNCG Softball Stadium.
The Spartans are 7-4 overall, while the Fighting Camels improve to 6-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
With two outs and a runner on first and second for Campbell, Hunt launched a three-run home run to left field for a 3-0 advantage in the top of the first.
UNCG reacted in the bottom of the frame as
Brooklynn Maxwell led off with a walk.
Delaney Cumbie reached on a fielder's choice, as Maxwell was out on the play. With one out, Chartrand crushed a long double to center field, scoring Cumbie from first to cut the deficit to two, 3-1.
Neither team really threatened, besides UNCG stranding two runners on base in the bottom of the third.
Both pitchers gave up four hits in 7.0 innings of work.
