GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team took two wins on Saturday at home at the UNCG Tennis Courts behind a 6-1 win over Lees-McRae and then a 7-0 shutout against Guilford.
Match 1: UNCG 6 – Lees-McRae 1
UNCG swept the doubles point, earning a win on all three courts. Doubles pairing of
Christopher Johns and
Tymofiy Khrystyuk were victorious with a score of 6-0 on court two, while UNCG then won on court one, 6-1, and court three, 6-3.
Johns then won at number six singles with a score of 6-1, 6-0. Khrystyuk secured a win on court three, 6-1, 6-3.
The Bobcats saw their only win of the day at number one singles as Max Borisov defeated
David Flisberg, 6-3, 6-2.
UNCG took wins in the next three courts, taking number four 7-5, 6-0, court five, 6-1, 6-3, and then court two 7-5, 7-6 (7).
Match 2: UNCG 7 – Guilford 0
The Spartans once again were dominate in doubles play, with Gabelic and
Andrew Black taking win one, 6-1, on court two. Court three doubles with
Wyatt Cannon and
Jay Montague then won with a 6-1 score against Evan Wong and Tylan Tuten.
Christopher Johns and
Harrison Gwynn picked up the final doubles win with a score of 6-3.
Black then started off the singles wins with a sweep at number three with scores of 6-0, 6-0. Johns mimicked Black's results on court two with scores of 6-0, 6-0. Cannon was next to finish on court four with a score of 6-0, 6-1.
Jay Montague on court six defeated Rishi Halukurike 6-4, 6-0 and then Gwynn won 6-2, 6-0.
John Gabelic was the final Spartan to take the win on court one with scores of 6-3, and 7-6 (7-4).
