GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell to NC A&T and No. 14 Wake Forest both in a 6-1 loss, on Sunday, March 26
th.
How It Happened
VS. NC A&T
The Aggies grabbed the first win in doubles, with a 6-1 win at number one doubles.
Christopher Johns and
Tymofiy Khrystyuk claimed the victory at number two doubles, with a score of 6-3 forcing a must win for either team at number three doubles to earn the first point of the match. NC A&T fought until the end and ended up with a 7-5 win at number three doubles. .
NC A&T won number four, three, and one singles, respectively in straight sets. Khrystyuk picked up the Spartans only win of the match court four, going into a tiebreaker with the score of 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.
The Aggies won the final two courts, as
Andrew Black won set one, 7-5 and NC A&T's Mathieu Dussaubat won 6-3, forcing a third set tiebreaker with the match clinched by the Aggies, 10-8.
Devon Moskowitz also saw a back and forth match as he lost, 3-6, 6-4, 1-6 on court five.
VS. No. 14 Wake Forest
Wake Forest came to play taking the win in doubles play on court one, 6-1. UNCG countered with
Christopher Johns and
Tymofiy Khrystyuk winning number two doubles, 7-5. The Spartans then earned the doubles point as
Harrison Gwynn and
Wyatt Cannon claimed a 6-4 victory on court three.
Singles play is where Wake Forest shined, winning five of the six courts by straight sets. With the match decided,
David Flisberg lost in set one, 2-6, but won 6-3 in set two forcing a tiebreaker, where the Demon Deacons won 10-5.
