HARRISONBURG, VA. – Freshman
Tymofiy Khrystyuk of UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team won the lone point in a 6-1 loss to James Madison on Wednesday afternoon.
The Dukes dominated on court one and rallied on another to clinch the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead. The final match between JMU's Holden Koons and Francisco Sinopoli and UNCG's
David Flisberg and
John Gabelic went unfinished while tied 4-4.
All six singles matches finished in straight sets, with JMU claiming five of them en route the win. Aathreya Mahesh clinched the Dukes win on court six, where he took down
Andrew Black by scores of 6-1, 6-4. Black was down 5-1 and trimmed the lead to 5-4 in the second before Mahesh came up on top.
Youssef Sadek trailed 3-2 in the opening set of his match against
Devon Moskowitz but would go on to win 10 of 12 games with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph on court four.
The Spartans got on board with a victory on court three. Khrystyuk outlasted Sinopoli, 7-5, 6-3, for UNCG's lone point.
John Gabelic and Julian Lozano played in a tiebreak, where Lozano came up on top, 7-1. He then went on to win set two, 6-1.

The Spartans return to North Carolina to host Lees-McRae and Guilford on Saturday, March 11 at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
UNCG then hosts its second SoCon opponent in ETSU on Sunday, March 12 with a start time of 1 p.m.
