HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - Sophomore Grace Holcomb posted one of only two final round scorecards at par or better out of the whole Southern Conference (SoCon) Women's Golf Championship field, earning a top-ten spot, as the Spartans finished the tournament in eighth place Wednesday morning and afternoon.
 
Classmate Ava Romfo also earned a top 10 spot on the leaderboard. This is the first time since the 2013 Championship that UNCG has had two Spartans finish in the top 10. In 2013, Fanny Cnops tied for third overall and Courtney Taylor tied for fifth overall.
 
Holcomb posted a final round even-par (72) which lifted the sophomore 18 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for sixth overall at 14-over-par (230). Starting on the tenth tee, Holcomb turned in an unblemished back nine scorecard with two birdies. The sophomore posted birdies on the par five, 489-yard 11th hole and the par three, 102-yard 17th. After the turn, Holcomb added a birdie on the par four, 358-yard first hole. Holcomb finished just three shots outside the top-five individuals and jumped the most spots on the leaderboard in the final round. The sophomore improved 15 spots from last year's tournament effort.
 
Ava Romfo finished in a tie for eighth through 54 holes at 15-over-par (231) after a final round eight-over-par (80). The sophomore posted her lone birdie on the par four, 346-yard 12th hole as part of a one-over-par back nine. Romfo climbed 11 spots compared to her 2022 effort.
 
The Spartans finished in eighth place at 92-over-par (956), five shots behind Chattanooga in seventh place and seven shots behind Samford in sixth.

• Holcomb and Romfo finished nine-over-par on par four holes, both finishing in a tie for seventh.
• Holcomb posted a one-over-par effort on par threes, three shots off the lead.
