COLUMBUS, OHIO – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell to Ohio State in the final game of the series, at Bill Davis Field.
How it Happened
UNCG scored one run in the top of the second after
Dosi Jonas hit one to center field reaching on an error, that allowed
Mitchell Smith to cross home, 1-0.
Grant Aycock was able to hold the Buckeyes scoreless up until the bottom of the fourth when they scored two runs, off three hits, 2-1. UNCG made a pitching change and Ohio State managed to score another run extending its advantage to two runs, 3-1.
The Buckeyes added two more runs between the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings for a 5-1 lead.
With
Kennedy Jones on third base, Smith hit into a double play that brought the deficit to three runs as Jones scored, 5-2.
Ohio State extended its lead by scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth off four hits, for a final score of 9-2.
