ETSU Takes Rubber Match Versus Baseball

JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell to ETSU in the final game of the regular season at Thomas Stadium on Saturday afternoon in Southern Conference (SoCon) play.   
 
Daniel Cerda hit a solo home run in the top of the third, going 3-for-4 at the plate. Cerda, along with Kennedy Jones who went 2-for-5 and Bradley Bott who went 2-for-4 were the three Spartans with multi-hit games.
 
How It Happened
 
ETSU's scoring quickly took off in the bottom of the first, as Cameron Sisneros hit a two-run homer after a lead off walk, 2-0.

UNCG cut the deficit in half with Cerda's home run to left center, 2-1. The Bucs then extended their lead in the bottom of the third by adding two runs on a double from Ashton King and a RBI single from Noah Webb for a 4-1 lead.
 
ETSU scored six runs between the fourth and fifth innings breaking the game open, 10-1.
 
Jeremy Wolf led off the top of the sixth with a double to left center. Cerda later singled to load the bases and Bott hit into a ground out to second base, scoring Wolf and cutting the deficit to eight, 10-2.
 
Ryan Rouse retired the Bucs in the bottom of the frame, stranding three on base. Kennedy Jones singled to center field in the top of the eighth driving in Cerda from second to score, cutting the deficit to seven, 10-3.
 
In the bottom of the eighth, ETSU scored three runs off three hits, for a final score of 13-3.
