GREENSBORO, N.C. – Graduate student
Noah Connor of the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team has been named the champion of the 99
th Carolinas Open on Thursday after notching a 14-under-par (202) over the three-round tournament that was held from August 8-10 at Greensboro Country Club.
Connor recorded his best score, seven-under-par (65) in the second round of the tournament, while also posting a six-under-par (66) in round one and a one-under-par (71) in the final round. The Reidsville, N.C. native, also carded 18 birdies over the tournament with two of them coming on the last two holes.
"It's hard to explain what this means to me," said Connor. "I haven't had a win since I've transitioned from junior golf into college. To finally get a win at my favorite course in Greensboro is something special to say the least. The whole journey has been a blessing. I'm thankful that God has given me the ability and passion to play this game. I hope this is all just the beginning."
Connor's career best score at UNCG has also been a seven-under-par (65), which he notched last season at the Johnnie-O at Sea Island tournament in round two in mid-March.

Andrew Graham and UNCG men's golf alumni, Justin Emmons and (2017-21) and Josh Stockwell (2014-18).
Royalty, a Spartan freshman for the 2023-24 season, notched a seven-under-par (209) in the tournament tying for 11th place and golfed his best during the final round shooting four-under-par (68).
The Carolinas Section of the PGA formed in 1923 and was officially recognized by the PGA in 1940. Today, the Carolinas PGA has grown to be the largest of the PGA's forty-one sections with more than 2,200 professional members employed at more than 700 golf facilities.
