GREENSBORO, N.C. – Coming off a season-opening win the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team heads to Harrisonburg, Virginia to battle James Madison University (JMU) on Sunday, with a kick-off of 6 p.m. at Sentara Park.

SCOUTING JMU
The Dukes started its season with a tight match against Charlotte coming out on top, 3-2. This comes after JMU was selected as the preseason co-favorite to win the Sun Belt tying with South Alabama. Redshirt senior Alexandrea Blom was selected as the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, with three of her teammates being named to the Preseason team, including Brittany Munson, Lexi Vanderlinden, and Amanda Attanasi.
QUICK HITTERS FOR THE SPARTANS
- The Spartans started the season shutting out Army, 2-0. After having eight shutouts last season was the most since 2018 when the Spartans also had eight.
- Bailey Gourdine, Natalie McCullough, and Hayden Erck all saw their first collegiate career starts.
- Mairead Gayer had her first collegiate goal.
- Ava Kiss had her second career game with an assist and goal. Erck earned her first collegiate assist.
- UNCG finished the 2022 season 91st in RPI and was one of two The Southern Conference (SoCon) teams in the top 100.
- The Spartans were voted second in the SoCon coaches' preseason poll.
- Fifth-year Gabi Santora, Parker Sikora, and sophomore Emma Malone were named to the SoCon Preseason All-Conference team.
