Women's Soccer & Charlotte Play to 0-0 Draw

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team battled until the end against Charlotte to finish the game in a draw, 0-0 at the Transamerica Field on Thursday evening.

Sophomore Emma Malone kept her team in the game, with key saves. She finished the game with her season-high of seven saves.

How It Happened

An even match-up saw back-and-forth play with Charlotte striking in the first minute of the match when the Niners' Payton Patrick struck the ball over the top of the net.

The Spartan's defense held strong when the Niners followed that opportunity with two more. UNCG countered with a shot from freshman Hayden Erck inside the sixth-yard box to the bottom left of the net at 10:45.

The battle continued in the second half with back-and-forth play. Senior Hannah Morton saw UNCG's best opportunity in the 48th minute when she pressured Charlotte's goalkeeper Emma Wakeman. Morton went one-on-one with the goalkeeper, winning the ball at her left foot and shooting wide.
