DURHAM, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's golf team completed the Rod Myers Invitational on Monday in a tie for fifth place out of 12 teams.
TEAM
- The Spartans earned an overall score of nine-over-par (873) in the two-day event after carding a 286 in the third round.
- UNCG led the way in birdies at the tournament with 57. Duke followed behind with 56 birdies over the three rounds.
- The squad moved up in the third round from sixth place to tie for fifth.
- Duke claimed first place at the tournament with an eight-under-par (856).
- UNCG's fifth place tie comes with instate foe, Charlotte (295, 285, 293).
INDIVIDUAL
- Randall Hudson led the way for the Spartans to take second place overall out of 72 individuals at the tournament. The senior notched an eight-under-par (208) at the event and shot a three-under-par (69) in the final round.
- Hudson came in second in birdies at the tournament with 17 overall in the 54 holes.
- Kelvin Hernandez, golfing as an individual, came in second for UNCG tying for 21st. The freshman finished with a four-over-par (220) after carding par (72) in the third round.
- Symon Balbin notched an eagle on the ninth hole of the third round of the tournament, being one of only 14 players to earn one or more eagles.
- Four Spartans moved up in their placings from the first and second rounds after their accomplishments in the third round. Hernandez, Samuel Davidson and Balbin moved up eight places, while Noah Connor slid up nine spots in round three.
