GREENSBORO, N.C. –  The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team and No. 2 West Virginia will face off on Tuesday night in non-conference action at the UNCG Soccer Stadium with a start time of 7:00 p.m.

The Spartans enter the contest 1-5-3 overall, while the Mountaineers are 6-0-2 overall and 0-0-2 in the Sun Belt Conference. West Virginia is currently No. 2 in the United Soccer Coaches poll, No. 3 in the College Soccer News national poll, and No. 7 in the TopDrawerSoccer national poll.

The Spartans and Mountaineers have met three times before this meeting with West Virginia leading the series 2-1. UNCG defeated West Virginia in 2006 when the Mountaineers were No. 6, 2-1 in overtime. West Virginia shut out UNCG 1-0 in 2015 and 2016.

• UNCG opened the season at home and played to a 1-1 draw to the California Golden Bears, in a game that was played over two days and five hours and 25 minutes due to inclement weather.
• This will be the Spartans' third ranked opponent of the season and second Sun Belt rival on their regular season schedule.
• In a 1-1 draw against Campbell, Homssa scored his first-collegiate goal, while Colton Sessoms tallied his first assist of the season and third helper of his career.
• Homssa leads the team with four points (1 G, 2 A), while Colton Sessoms is second with three points (1 G, 1 A).
• Ethan Conley registered his second-career goal as the equalizer, while Sessoms scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Charlotte that was complete in the 81st minute due to inclement weather.
• The Spartans most recently fell to Penn State, 2-0, who was receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll. This was the first meeting between the Spartans and the Nittany Lions.
• UNCG was voted to finish first in the SoCon Preseason Coaches Poll, while Emmanuel Hagan, Ethan Conley, and Basile Marc earned Preseason All-Conference honors. All three were named to SoCon All-Conference teams.
• Hagan, Conley, and Marc were named captains this season.
• The Spartans feature 15 returners, 10 freshmen, and three transfers.

SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA

• Last season, West Virginia went 7-7-4 overall and 3-1-4 in the conference.
• West Virginia was voted to take third in the Sun Belt Preseason Coaches Poll.
• The Mountaineers have had six shutouts and a 0.750 shutout percentage this season, which is fourth in the nation.
• West Virginia is nationally ranked 10^th in save percentage (0.850), 15^th in goal differential (10), and 19^th in fouls per game (9.38).
• Defensively, the Mountaineers are allowing just 0.38 goals per game, which is fourth best in the country.
• Sophomore Marcus Caldeira leads the team and is second in the nation with seven goals, while Yutaro Tsukada has a team-high three assists.
• In net, Lee Jackson has given up three goals and has tallied 17 saves in the eight games started and played.
