Women’s Golf Finishes Ninth At The Golfweek Red Sky Classic

VAIL, Colo. – In the final round of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic the UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's golf team moved up one spot to tie for ninth place with a total score of 35-over-par (899).
 
Grace Holcomb led the Spartans finishing with a total score of seven-over-par (223), tied for 23rd. Holcomb carded three birdies, the first one being on the par three, 136-yard 17th hole after starting her final round on the ninth hole.
 
Sophomore Julia Baeumken moved up 19 places after her one-under-par (71) performance in the third round, making her the only Spartan with an under-par effort on the third day. Baeumken started the round with a birdie on the par four 355-yard, hole 11 for the first of four total birdies. She finished the tournament carding a 10-over-par (226), tied for 32nd.
 
Ava Romfo collected two birdies on the back nine before the turn to collect a score of two over par (74) for the day. Romfo finished tied 40th with a score of 12-over par (228) for the tournament.
 
As an individual Victoria Cook collected a score of 20 over par (236) for the tournament. Cook carded a birdie on the par five 501-yard hole 15. After posting a birdie on the 12th hole to start the round, Elle Burnette posted another birdie on the 136-yard 17th hole before the turn and made two more on the front nine.
 
Alexandra Phelps concluded the final round with four birdies, two on the back nine and two on the front totaling two-over-par (74).
 
UNCG finished the tournament ninth out of the 16 teams, tying with The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Wofford. The Spartans surpassed ETSU who took home 12th and was six strokes behind Mercer who finished fifth.  UNCG was one of four schools with three eagles in the tournament.

The Spartans host the UNCG Collegiate from October 9th through October 10th at Forest Oaks Golf Course.
