GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team played to its second draw of the season, 1-1, against in-state foe Campbell Tuesday night at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans held possession for most of the first half outshooting the Fighting Camels, 6-2. Campbell's two shots came in the sixth and 11th minutes of the match. After a shot on goal from
Nabil Homssa at 34:10 and then UNCG being called offsides at 34:40, the Spartans regained possession and worked the ball through the midfield. An initial cross was rejected inside the 18-yard box, but
Colton Sessoms collected the defensive miscue setting up Homssa for a strike to the back of the net at 36:29, putting UNCG up 1-0.
The two teams went back and forth in the second half fighting for every ball. Late in the frame, the Camels played the ball wide right outside the 18-yard box and Adrien Gameiro took a Spartan one-on-one. Gameiro sent in a cross that was misplayed and tied the game at one at 88:06. Neither team found momentum in the final two minutes ending the match in a 1-1 draw.
