Women’s Soccer Opens Four-Game Homestand with Coastal Carolina

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team welcomes Coastal Carolina on Thursday evening at the UNCG Soccer Stadium with a start time of 6 p.m. to start a four-game homestand.
 
This will be the third time in history that these two teams will meet. The last time these two teams met was in 2008 when UNCG took the win, 2-0.

Admission: FREE admission (all regular season home games)
Concessions: Will be open (No outside food or drink allowed)
Promotion: First 50 students will receive a FREE chicken tender, quesadilla, and vegan bar courtesy of ACE (UNCG Activities and Campus Events)

Scouting Coastal Carolina
 
Slated to finish 10th in the Sun Belt Conference, the Chanticleers have started the season out with a 2-3 record most recently falling to No. 12 South Carolina, 5-0. Coastal leads the Sun Belt and is nationally ranked 26th in saves per game (6.40). Freshman Emily Petering is nationally ranked second and leads the SUn Belt in shot accuracy (0.909). Junior goalkeeper Vivienne Carr leads the Sun Belt in total saves (32) and saves per game (6.40). Nationally Carr is ranked 17th in saves per game and 18th in total saves.
 
Quick Hitters for the Spartans
  • UNCG most recently had a dominant 2-0 win against Elon on Sunday evening for its third shutout of the season.
  • The Spartans outshot the Phoenix 11-6.
  • Senior Caroline Woods scored her first goal of the season against Elon from outside the 18-yard box.
  • Ava Kiss tallied her fourth career goal against Elon, second this season.
  • Haydan Erck earned her second assist this season in the game against Elon.
  • Sophomore Emma Malone had her third shutout of the season and her fifth career shutout against Elon.
  • Mel Herrera recorded her second career goal against George Washington. Bailey Gourdine's assist to Herrera was the freshman's first assist of her collegiate career. 
  • Mairead Gayer had her first collegiate goal against Army.
  • UNCG is nationally ranked 37th in shot accuracy (0.558), and 68th in shutout percentage (0.500).
