CHATTANOOGA, TENN. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team secured a 70-54 The Southern Conference (SoCon) win over Chattanooga on Saturday night at McKenzie Arena.
Three Spartans tallied double figures, including
Keyshaun Langley who paced UNCG with 17 points.
Kobe Langley was second on the team with 15 points and
Donovan Atwell tallied 12 points.
Langley also registered a double-double, adding a career-high 11 assists. This was his second double-double of his career. The first was against NC A&T earlier this year on November 10, where he scored 11 points and dished 10 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The score was tied just three times during the game, all during the first half, as Chattanooga had the lead just three times during the contest. The Spartans went on a 12-0 run, that put them up eight, 31-23. This run included the final time that the game was tied. UNCG climbed to a 12-point advantage with 4:09 left in the half, but the Mocs closed the gap to seven, 37-30, before heading to the locker room.
UNCG went on an 11-5 run at the start of the second half to get back to a double-digit lead, 48-35. The Spartans kept the double-figure distance for the remainder of the game, where UNCG saw its largest lead of 19 twice in the half. The first time was at 12:52 following a three pointer from Keyshaun and the second was after a jumper from
Joryam Saizonou at 10:52. A 10-2 run from the Mocs cut the deficit to 11, 60-49, but the Spartans continued shooting to hold on for a 16-point win, 70-54.
BY THE NUMBERS
- This was the 12th game this season that Keyshaun tallied double-digits.
- Kobe's double-double brought the tally to six on the season for the Spartans.
- Miles Jones led the team with five rebounds.
- Jalen Breath registered six points, two steals, two blocks, and four rebounds.
- UNCG outshot Chattanooga 49.1 percent to 30.9 percent from field goal range.
- The Spartans also shot 53.8-percent from behind the arc, compared to the Mocs' 20.6-percent.
- The Spartans have now shot 50-percent or better from three-point range five times this season.

The Spartans will return home and host The Citadel on Wednesday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m. and then Wofford on Saturday, January 20 at 4:00 p.m. Both games will be played at the Greensboro Coliseum.
