ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team dropped its 2024 season opener, 6-1 at UNC Asheville on Sunday at The Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
Lauren Thomson gained her first collegiate duals win with set scores 6-2, 6-2 over the Bulldogs' Avery Sager.
Luna Urso produced a close matchup to start her singles play against Valeria Centeno featuring a tiebreaker ending, 7-6, 2-6 (10-4).
Alexandra Dodashev dropped her singles competition to Linge Steenkamp in a 6-4, 6-3 battle.
Olivia Gallagher came up just short against Louise Booker, 7-6, 6-4.
Raegan Mitchell and
Juliana Craft both fell in their singles play to Bulldogs, 6-3, 6-3.
UNC Asheville was able to sweep all three doubles courts. Doubles duo Mitchell and
Sydney Bly came up just short, 6-3, while Thomson and Craft both dropped their doubles matchup, 6-3 as well.
Gallagher and Dodashev fell to Ari Siegel and Steenkamp in doubles competition, 6-2.

UNCG will now turn its attention to its 2024 home opener as the Spartans host Campbell on Sunday, Jan. 28 at noon at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
