Okawa and Tattevin Score in Men’s Soccer’s Loss at Wofford

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team fell 3-2 to the Wofford Terriers in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action on Saturday night at Snyder Field.

Wofford scored three goals in just over 12 minutes to snap UNCG's impressive nine-game unbeaten streak. The Spartans scored the first and last goals of the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior Yoshiya Okawa opened the scoring in favor of the Spartans in the 10th minute on Saturday night. Freshman Issah Haruna assisted Okawa on the goal after he dribbled down the left side of the pitch before cutting back and finding Okawa at the top of the box. However, Wofford wasted no time finding the equalizer, scoring in the 15th minute when Magnus Kjoller scored on a header from a corner kick by Dennis Thaddeus. The Terriers then grabbed a 2-1 lead in the 22nd minute when Stewart Patnaud fired a shot past UNCG's Tim Baerwalde into the lower-left corner after receiving a short pass from Kjoller. Wofford tacked on another one to make it 3-1 in the 27th minute when Thaddeus scored off a through pass from Stewart.

In the second half, sophomore Arnaud Tattevin cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 73rd minute by glancing a shot off Wofford's Bryce Peacock and behind the goalkeeper, Leo Ledin, after receiving a pass from senior Jack Birch. The Spartans then made a push to find a tying goal late in the second half, but Ledin made a pair of saves in the final seven minutes to secure the Terriers' 3-2 victory.
