GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team dropped The Southern Conference (SoCon) opener at the UNCG Tennis Courts on Thursday to ETSU, 7-0.
ETSU started off strong for Alessandra Caceres and Sofia Markova to gain the first doubles win over
Juliana Craft and
Lauren Thomson, 6-0. The Bucs followed up with a 6-1 win over
Luna Urso and
Sydney Bly, 6-1 to claim the doubles point.
The Bucs continued their stride by claiming all six singles matches. The best showing for the Spartans in singles action came from
Alexandra Dodashev and Thomson. On court one, Dodashev fought hard in a three-set battle with Markova, 0-6, 6-2, 3-10. Thomson rounded out singles play on the day with a back-and-forth match with Caceres. Thomson dropped the first set 2-6, but came back to earn set two, 6-4. Caceres was able to claim the match in the third set, 10-2 for the Bucs to earn the shutout.
