Men’s Basketball Takes Down Terriers in Spartanburg, 58-47

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's basketball team swept the regular season series against Wofford behind a 58-47 victory over the Terriers on Saturday night at the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
 
Two Spartans tallied double figures, including Donovan Atwell who paced the game with 15 points and Keyshaun Langley who registered 13 points.
 
Kobe Langley reached the 200 career steals milestone with his six this game, bringing his total to 205. He is fourth in the UNCG record book, sitting behind Isaiah Miller (315), Ricky Hickman (236), and Courtney Eldridge (226). Keyshaun is now fifth all time with his 201 career steals.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Spartans offense started out on top with an 8-0 run in the first three minutes of play. Wofford bounced back with 10-straight points to earn its first lead, 10-8, but UNCG had a 7-2 run, regaining the advantage, 15-12, and never trailing in the game again. UNCG saw its first opportunity with a double-digit lead at 2:45 in the first half on Atwell's third three pointer of the game, 32-22. The Spartans went into the locker room with a 12-point advantage, 38-26, bringing their total to 12 games this season with a double-figure lead at the half.
 
The two teams traded baskets during the first couple of minutes of action. Following a 9-2 run ending with 6:44 on the clock, the Spartans saw their largest lead of the game, 54-36, climbing to an 18-point advantage. Wofford's 11-4 run in the remaining minutes wasn't enough, as UNCG walked away with a 58-47 victory.

  • Keyshaun's seven assists is a season high.
  • Mikeal Brown-Jones chipped in nine points and seven rebounds.
  • Kobe's six steals was a game high and matched his career high.
  • He also recorded seven points and five assists.
  • Joryam Saizonou matched his career-best of two steals.
  • Jalen Breath led the team with nine rebounds and nine points.
  • UNCG outmatched Wofford in points off turnovers, 20-7, fast break points, 10-3, and points in the paint, 24-18.

UP NEXT
The Spartans split their time at home and on the road next week. First UNCG will host Western Carolina on Wednesday, February 21 at the Greensboro Coliseum with a start time of 6:00 p.m. This game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
UNCG then travels to Macon, Georgia to rematch Mercer on Saturday, February 24 for a 4:30 p.m. start time at Hawkins Arena.
