GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team fell in a 5-2 matchup to Coastal Carolina on Wednesday at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
The Chanticleers gained the first doubles matchup of the day with Kate Foldeak and Cecile Morin defeating
Juliana Craft and
Lauren Thomson, 6-3 on court two.
Sydney Bly and
Olivia Gallagher bounced by back by claiming the next doubles matchup with a 6-3 win over Nicole Abel and Aida Maria Mitrache on court three. However, the Chanticleers were able to claim the last doubles match to earn the 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
Coastal Carolina claimed the first three singles points to clinch the match. However, Bly got the Spartans on the board with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Katya Hersh on court six. The Chanticleers claimed the fifth singles point of the day for the 5-1 lead. Gallagher added one more point for the Spartans in a back-and-forth battle with Foldeak, 3-6, 7-6 (5), 10-4 to end the match with a 5-2 final score.

The Spartans will stay at home to host SoCon opponent, Chattanooga on Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m. with location to be determined between the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center or the UNCG Tennis Courts.
