GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell in a 6-1 battle with Furman on Friday at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
The Paladins were able to win the first match of the day as doubles duo Connor Laymon and Emil Westling defeated
Hampus Johansson
and
Luke Thomson, 6-3. On court two,
David Flisberg and
John Gabelic bounced back to earn the 7-5 win over Cole Burnam and Alex Han to tie doubles up at one match a piece. Thomas Kennedy and Elijah Poritzky were able to close out the match with a 7-5 win over
Christopher Johns and Tymofiy
Khrystyuk on court one for the Paladins to take the one-point advantage heading into singles play.
Tejas Wall started off singles action in a dominating win over Laymon on court five, 6-1, 6-1 to put the Spartans on the board and tying the match (1-1). However, Furman was able to earn the next five singles matches for the 6-1 victory. Despite this,
Khrystyuk and
Devon Moskowitz put up a third set battle with both of their opponents on courts one and six, respectively.
