Samford Edges Men’s Tennis, 4-3

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell in a tight battle with Samford, 4-3 at the UNCG Tennis Courts on Sunday.

The Bulldogs were able to claim the doubles point after producing, 6-1, 6-2 wins on courts one and three, respectfully. David Flisberg and John Gabelic put up a fight with Santiago Arredondo and J.B. Pickard on court two, ultimately going the way for the Bulldogs, 7-6 (5).

Samford was able to continue its momentum into singles action by earning the first three matches. The Bulldogs clinched the match on court five with Pickard defeating Gabelic, 6-4, 6-4. The Spartans were able to get on the board by winning the final three singles matches. Devon Moskowitz earned a defining win over Sebastian Harrison, 6-2, 7-6 on court six. Tymofiy Khrystyuk earned a tough battle with Maxwell Giddens on court one, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (8). Tejas Wall was able to close out the match by giving the Spartans their third point of the day in a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win over Maksim Bogdanovich on court four.

"Today, we fought like dogs," said Wall. "We showed them who we were, and though sadly we couldn't find the win, our best foot was put forward. Will that stop us? No. Will we quit? Never. Spartans are warriors and this is just another step towards achieving what we seek. Let's go G!"

"The match was good," said Moskowitz. "It is going to give us confidence going into the next one especially against The Citadel."
