GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team came away with the 4-3 battle to Western Carolina on Saturday at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
Saturday's win marks the first win in The Southern Conference (SoCon) for the Spartans since the 2021-22 season when UNCG defeated Mercer, 4-3 on March 19, 2022.
The Catamounts were able to get on the board first in the match by claiming the doubles point. However,
Olivia Gallagher and
Raegan Mitchell closed out doubles play with a 7-6 win over Dasha Osadova and Andrea Redondo on court three.
Western Carolina continued its momentum into singles play by earning the first two points for the 3-0 lead. However, UNCG bounced back to claim the final four singles matches for the 4-3 win. Gallagher got the first point of the day for the Spartans in a 6-4, 6-2 win over Angela Perez on court three.
Juliana Craft tallied another point on court four in a battle with Madison Schwarz, 6-2, 6-5 (8-6).
Sydney Bly followed in behind for the 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 victory over Osadova on court six.
Lauren Thomson clinched the 4-3 match for the Spartans in a win over Redondo on court five, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.
