GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team fell in a 6-1 battle with Furman on Thursday at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center.
The Paladins were able to secure the first point of the contest by claiming all three doubles matches. However,
Lauren Thomson and
Juliana Craft put up a fight with Grace Thomas and Maeve Thornton in the final doubles match on court three, ultimately going Furman's way, 7-6 (7-5).
Furman continued its momentum by earning the first three singles contests to clinch the match on court six despite a hard-fought battle with
Sydney Bly, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. Thomson gave UNCG its only point of the day with a 6-1, 7-6 (4) victory over Marissa Pennings on court five. The Paladins came back to claim the final two singles contests for the 6-1 victory over the Spartans.
