GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team took a 4-3 loss to Fairfield on Thursday afternoon over a back-and-forth battle at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
The Stags started off the matchup by earning the first doubles point on court two.
Alexandra Dodashev and
Sydney Bly bounced back to claim the next doubles matchup over Maeve Cassidy and Sarah Liu, 6-2. However, Fairfield claimed the final double match to head into singles play on top 1-0.
Fairfield claimed the first singles match. However, Bly was able to get the Spartans on the board with a dominating 6-2, 6-3 win over Cassidy on court six.
Olivia Gallagher tied the match up at two points apiece on court four after defeating Francesca Karman, 6-1, 6-3.
Juliana Craft gave the Spartans the 3-2 lead after taking down Nicolette Loeffler, 6-2, 6-1 on court three. The Stags were able to bounce back by claiming the final two singles points for the 4-3 win. Despite this,
Arina Babkova put up a fight with Sarah Liu in the final singles contest, going three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, but ultimately going the way for Liu.
