GREENSBORO, N.C. - The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team claimed a 4-3 battle over N.C. Central on Friday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
The Spartans got on the board first in the contest by claiming the doubles point for the 1-0 lead. First,
Hampus Johansson and
John Gabelic earned a 6-2 win over Neiman Sneed and Naresh Bharthy on court three. The Eagles claimed the second doubles match on court two, but
David Flisberg and
Christopher Johns came just in behind to claim a 7-5 battle over Oliver Saarinen and Kareem Abdul Hakim on court one to clinch the doubles point.
Luke Thomson kept the momentum going for the Spartans in singles play for a dominating 6-0, 6-2 win over Lucas Artigas on court six. Flisberg followed up with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Leo Fortier on court three. N.C. Central stayed alive by tallying the next two singles points, cutting the match deficit to 3-2. However, Gabelic was able to clinch the match in a three-set battle over Kareem Abdul Hakim on court two, 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-4. The Eagles tallied one more singles win, but UNCG was able to walk away with the 4-3 victory.
