BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team fell twice to The Southern Conference (SoCon) foe Samford on Saturday at Samford Softball Field.
 
The Bulldogs took wins with scores of 8-3 and 12-0.
 
Game 1: Samford 8 – UNCG 3
Samford scored the first run of the day on a ground out from Katie Campbell, 1-0.
 
UNCG responded with three runs in the top of the second on three hits. With the bases loaded, Betsy Eatmon singled to right field, scoring Anna White, 1-1. Kiley McQuillan then doubled to center field, giving the Spartans a 3-1 advantage.
 
The Bulldogs cut the deficit to one, 3-2, in the bottom of the third, as Campbell homered to center field.
 
Following a scoreless fourth inning, Samford broke open the game by stringing together three hits in the fifth for four runs. The Bulldogs added another two runs in the bottom of the sixth for an 8-3 advantage. UNCG threatened with two base runners in the top of the seventh, but Samford retired the side to hold on for the win.

Game 2: Samford 12 – UNCG 0 (5 innings)
 
The Bulldogs got on the board first once again with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. With two outs and runners on second and third, Campbell singled up the middle for a 2-0 lead.
 
Samford tallied another run in the bottom of the second for a 3-0 advantage before breaking the game open with a nine-run third inning for a 12-0 lead.
 
UNCG had one hit in the top of the third and one in the top of the fifth.
