GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 23 UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's soccer team will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, to take on No. 8 Virginia at Klöckner Stadium on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The Cavaliers enter this match on a nine-game unbeaten streak.  

SERIES HISTORY VS VIRGINIA 
This matchup dates back to 1984, when UNCG was still in DIII. The Cavaliers hold a 4-2-1 all-time record over the Spartans. The last matchup was in 2024; UNCG took the 2-1 victory at Virginia with Daniel Longo scoring the game-winning goal in the 85th minute.  
 
ABOUT THE SPARTANS     

• The Spartans were voted first in the 2025 SoCon Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning four out of the six first-place votes and totaling 24 points.    

• UNCG ranks 27th in RPI with a 3-0-2 record against Quad 1 and Quad 2 teams this year.  

• Chris Rich is 4-3-6 in Top 25 matchups in his career at UNCG, with his biggest win against No.2 Clemson on Sept 21, 2021. 

• UNCG enters this matchup with a 4-0-0 record against Virginia schools this season.  

• Enzo Dovlo was named to the Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List with seven goals and six assists this season.  

• Dovlo is nationally ranked 11th in points (20), 15th in assists (6) and 18th in total goals with seven.    

• Arnaud Tattevin is second on the team in goals with five, while also having two assists on the season.    

• Steven Hernandez is third on the team in total points with nine (4G,1A).  

• The trio of Dovlo, Tattevin and Hernandez have scored 17 out of the 28 goals this season.  

• Julien Le Bourdoulous has two goals and four assists this season.   

• Longo is third on the team in assists this year with three.  

• The Spartans boast 13 players that have scored points for the team this season.    

• The Spartans boast one of the best offenses in the nation and are ranked 12th in total goals (28), 14th in scoring offense (2.33), 19th total points (78), 20th in points per game (6.58), 30th shots on goal (6.25) and 32nd in total assists (23).  

• The Spartans concluded the 2024 season 10-2-5 overall and 3-1-1 in The Southern Conference (SoCon) and a shared Regular Season Title.   

• The squad boasts 11 returners from last season and nine seniors heading into this season.    

SCOUTING VIRGINIA 

• Virginia ranks fourth in RPI and eighth in the nation in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. They are 3-1-1 in Quad 1 and Quad 2 games this year.  

• The Cavaliers are led in scoring by freshman Nicholas Simmonds with 12 points this season (5G, 2A).  

• Umberto Pelá is Virginia's second leading scorer this season with eight points (3G,2A).  

• Marco Dos Santos leads the team in assists with seven this year. 

• Virginia was selected to finish ninth out of 15 teams in the ACC Preseason Coaches' Poll. 

• The Cavaliers are currently unbeaten at home with a 5-0-2 record in home matches this year. They also upset No. 1 Wake Forest at home 6-3 on Sept. 19.  

• Head Coach George Gelnovatch enters his 30th year going 390-164-77 in his time at Virginia.   

• Virginia ranks top 10 nationally in shots per game at eighth (16.82) and assists per game at a tie for ninth (2.64).
