SoCon Announces Women's Soccer Postseason Awards

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Two from the UNCG Greensboro (UNCG) women's soccer team were named to The Southern Conference (SoCon) All-Conference teams, announced on Thursday ahead of the quarterfinal rounds of the 2025 SoCon Tournament.

Senior Taylor Mentzer and junior Rina Ogimoto were both voted to the All-Conference Second Team. This is both of their first SoCon All-Conference awards, as Mentzer was named to the SoCon All-Tournament Team in 2023.

Mentzer is second on the team with 10 points this season. She has scored three goals and registered four assists. One of her three goals was a successful penalty kick, the first of her collegiate career, that she scored in the first round of the 2025 SoCon Tournament on Tuesday against No. 10 VMI. The Reading, Pennsylvania, native has tallied at least one point in the last three games for the Spartans. Her 10 points this season matches her career best, as she has totaled 10 points each in her sophomore and junior seasons, as well. Mentzer tallied her first-collegiate assist in a 2-2 tie against Chattanooga on Sept. 26, 2025. The midfielder's four helpers are tied for 12th in the SoCon.

Ogimoto, in her first season with the Spartans, is pacing the team with 12 points. She has scored a team-best five goals and has added two assists. Two of her five goals have been off penalty kicks. The Oita, Japan, native has reached career numbers this season after transferring in from University of the Pacific. The midfielder is tied for 11th in the SoCon in points and goals.
