MILL SPRING, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's cross country team finished third overall at The 2025 Southern Conference (SoCon) Championships Saturday at Tryon Equestrian Center.
The Spartans' third-place finish matches last year's result of third place, which was the best mark since the 2011* season when UNCG was crowned champion. This is the sixth* time in program history that UNCG has finished third or better.
Furman claimed its 13
th-straight SoCon Championship, totaling 20 points, while ETSU finished second with 85 points. UNCG edged Chattanooga for third place with 104 points and the Mocs totaled 105 points. Samford rounded out the top five teams with 115 points.
Freshman
Luke Hühn led the charge with his time of 25:24.8 in the eight-kilometer run. He finished 12
th out of 79 competitors. Hühn earned SoCon All-Freshman Team honors, Second Team recognition and was voted, by the coaches, as the SoCon Freshman of the Year. He is just the second** SoCon Freshman of the Year for UNCG since Paul Katam earned the honor in 2011.
Junior
Khalid Abdullahi also finished in the top 20, placing 18
th with his time of 25:45.9. Abdullahi bested his mark from last year, where he finished in 50
th place.
Sophomore
Logan Ruffner earned a 22
nd-place finish with his time of 25:58.8, which was higher than his 29
th-place mark from last year's championship. Classmate
Pierson Guerrant wasn't far behind with his time of 26:06.2, taking home 25
th place, besting his 2024 mark of 51
st place.
Senior
Lane Prochaska ran a time of 26:20.2, putting him 32
nd among the field in his second SoCon Cross Country Championship. Classmate
Luke Ward rounded out the Spartans' team scoring, placing 39
th overall with his time of 26:39.3.
Sophomore
Donovan Johnson competed in his first SoCon Championship and finished 65
th with a time of 28:13.3.

UP NEXT
The NCAA Division I Southeast Regional Championships will follow on Friday, Nov. 14 in Charlottesville, Virginia, at Panorama Farms. The women's six-kilometer race will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the men's 10-kilometer race will follow at 11:00 a.m.
