GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's cross country team is set to open the season on Sept. 4 at the Elon Friday Night Lights Meet, hosted by the Phoenix at the Elon Cross Country Course.
The Spartan women open the season having been picked eighth in The Southern Conference (SoCon) Preseason Poll, which was unveiled this afternoon per official release. UNCG finished eighth at the 2025 SoCon Championships, which are once again being hosted at the Tryon Equestrian Center (Mill Spring, N.C.) on Saturday, Oct. 31.
The Blue & Gold return four runners from last season's postseason unit, led by sophomore
Camryn Oates. The Wilmington, North Carolina native led the Spartans in her first SoCon championship appearance, finishing 30
th among a 77-runner field.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Friday's course is a hilly 1,000-meter circuit around Elon University's intramural fields and adjoining grass fields. The races will occur under the lights for a unique cross country racing environment and more favorable distance running conditions.

This year's team features plenty of experience, with seven seniors and two juniors making up almost two-thirds of the 15-woman squad. Head Coach
Kaleigh Roach's squad also features four freshmen; Arnold, Graff, Helmer and Rodriguez. All four are set to make their UNCG debuts at Elon on Friday.
2025 RECAP
UNCG's women competed in four meets last season, taking part in each of the adidas XC Challenge, Spartan Classic, Upstate Invitational, and the SoCon Championships. The team's best finish, third, came at the Spartan Classic.
